roll call yes yes yes Ryan manner motion to approve the agenda say we have 1 person that has signed up to speak Blake PCM school board members I would like parenting and I believe that we should start a Lego Club in the Middle School here are the reasons why first of all Leo Leo CAD is a building software where for kids and adults that is free to use it not cost the district any money second having a Lego Club will increase students interest in the stem Fields third Lego architecture students like me can work in small groups to build structures such as dams castles and bridges this will help them learn concepts of engineering physics or and physics thank you for listening to my idea I hope you keep this in mind and if you do I have on the ideas on how and where to get our Lego supplies thank you and goodbye yeah it would be a good first person to Blake for Blake to speak to that be Mr Brown play good news is Last Summer if somebody dropped off a big tote of Lego and a board for LEGO League stuff so we got to get started do we have an elementary 1 we used to it used to be it's not a like a side thing right I I was the coach it wasn't independent Club it was not like okay with PCM but it was open to PCM students okay yeah okay we need to give news oh there are a number of things mentioned there in your packet um I'll just call out some of the the most recent generous gifts type things uh with thanks to the Fine Art booster Fine Arts boosters purchased a much needed new electric piano in Middle School um I know Monroe Elementary is excited to raise money for their GaGa ball pit and I came up to over 3 thousand dollars for that and then uh this is 1 of several we've received this year too uh very thoughtful Memorial donations uh and we received just recently from the video family and uh again toward uh negative lunch accounts and toward our food service department so definitely appreciate people thinking of us in that way there's some other things in there as well I don't know if board members or others have good news they want to share that didn't make the packing so much more 1 the the most popular is this is client's door 1 like just in the last in the last day someone had a generous donation put it over the edge she wasn't even in the running and how that happened so yeah what is the Children's Cancer connections for the the National Honor Society volunteered for yeah so they go and just kind of um help with anything that's they need help with around there they've done like baskets and I know they've done blankets and things like that but that's it every year thing that they do now is it like a physical place they go to yeah okay so where is that okay so I haven't gone with them it is associated with a with a yeah I I have never gone with them um but that is something now that they're going to be doing every year so yeah my son said it was really bold experience I think they're going to start you know adding every year adding more and more uh things like that you know we did meals for the Heartland and we're going to do the children's cancer connection every year and we're just trying to add more and more outings like that uh I'd like to say congratulations to PC and basketball team win their first round and good luck Wednesday 5 wrestlers as of Saturday and boys are playing postseason basketball home tonight tonight so it's that time of year sounds like no we had special Olympic basketball players make it to state which falls over spring break so and I was sitting so we're not sure how many will go but that was exciting many of these I'll start with facility we didn't meet but uh I'll talk about a couple things the weight room painting will take place at the spring break you can see how okay uh softball alliance with on tonight's agenda it was about the plan and talking about it so they're all inventory water wave project I know there's a lot going on there but that's yeah any else just 1 doors we're going Finance meeting will find the budget looking forward to be spending this year and also looking at 2026 we have some long Insurance Services Healthcare and property so Tom is looking motion see in there I say it's more in the Special Olympics there so it's a good shout out to Abbey so you this is your first year here do you know is this like an increase of what's been done with Special Olympics from previous years or well yes yes Abby's very on top of everything we're not having to run down pairs of teachers to get the registration and the um information she's she communicates with all the parents and teachers at the beginning sport she was over everything that they needed to do for practice she hasn't set up in all buildings um she's just really it's Pat she's passionate about it so she's really taking it without asking or without paid extra she's just doing it so I'm out of the goodness of her heart and because she's passionate about it as a first year teacher yeah we should be amazing to see I do I do the behind the scenes work but she's the front guy so yeah and the kids are excited and the staff is excited and I went to the bowling when they had State Bowling and it was just so much fun to watch so but thank you everybody all right down to renewed district career and Academy point that's me um so every year the district has to submit a um what they call a Decap a district for an academic plan and I just have to inform you about it um so if you click on the link for the document you will see um a it's a working do right now it's 68 pages long um I have a full day um coming up on Thursday where I'm going to go and continue to add to it and so basically what this is is our plan to get our kids ready for what's coming after high school and so this is our way of putting it in writing um our goals our plans um what we're already what we already have in place and then every year they grade us um they have rubric um and by that I'm just going to say the state and um and they agreed us and they fill out this rubric and we get a grade and they give us feedback and so we take that feedback and we add to it um and we um they can prove its to that plan um you can see on here um it is broken down by grade and they actually include eighth grade in here which is important to know because um that's kind of new in the last couple years you should be doing career planning with our middle schoolers um they actually believe it or not encourage uh facil uh kind of talking about FAA as young as elementary students um just starting to kind of get them talking about those sorts of things and understanding what that is I'm not going to bore you with running through this but what you can see is we put in a lot of work um this is then sort of a pet project of mine over the last couple of years is College and Career getting this this is an area that I think um we have improved significantly in and I want to say that that is a huge tribute to the work of my CTE teachers um and um Colton work is is our um our um a person that does like job placements and um placements for our kids and apprenticeships or workplace learning coordinator there uh I can look at the words and Morgan Morgan Donna been who is our cctc I apologize for your transition come set they have been vital to improving our um College and Career Readiness so on here we put what we do with our students in classrooms we have our career fair on here anything we take our kids to that could be tied to the elements of the state has listed and so like I said this is still a working document you can see I have notes on here I have assigned things to the various people um and on Thursday we have a full day um Workshop Global continue to add to it so 68 pages is going to turn into probably at least 20 to 30 Health pages um but it's it's satisfying and very gratifying to look at the hard work we need to put it all on these pages and so that's the Decap I would say if you want to hear more more sometime we can we can have the college and career counselor come talk with a workplace coordinator and they have come to talk about I think you guys have to see okay so you've seen them yeah and again we can do that again I'm happy to do that just to update um you know it might be something at the beginning of next year that might be a good time um to do that just to talk about what we're doing but um I will say we have um our kids that are involved in work based learning has increased significantly um our kids that are doing apprenticeships we we when when Colton first started about 4 kids that were doing um our work based on and that were up to close to 30 um so it's it's pretty phenomenal you know we have our coffee shop our career fair which is a week from um today is now going to include breakout sessions with different employers we're going to have mock interviews and resume building workshops that all Juniors and seniors are now required to attend um so we're just we're implementing these things um because it is so so important for kids to to be ready to for what's next questions looks like there's a lot of work this is a lot of work I kind of scan through it looks like I saw the career fair come up on thanks for all your hard work no there's yeah informing you okay to 25 26 District calendar the the hearing tonight no comment on it um shared the recommendation previously this calendar and Bliss pain that would be overwhelming choice for the people that were surveyed so just need to officially adopt it today motion and second to approve the 2526 District calendar follow once we survived uh February I'll come back to you with another calendar discussion about this calendar you know back in our our snow days and late stars and early outs and uh and what we want to make up what we need to make up that kind of thing so um stay tuned maybe hopefully March hopefully safe in March we can come back and talk about that be able to 25 26 of course handbook me again um so handbook that we're proposing for next year just like every year um it is highlighted to help you understand what's new in green what is changing um in yellow and what is being eliminated in red okay so a couple things that I just want to want to you know uh we are adding another egg class egg processing um that's intended to kind of go hand in hand with our egg business so um if you kind of read through it it's sort of the Hands-On side of add business so what does it take to um it says great animal plant products to the market um so para maintenance of animals and plants um equipment care sanitation government regulations and marketing and um so again this is intended to if a student we're not requiring it but we're saying that a processing and add business kind of go hand in hand so that's a new course that we're adding on there um we're also adding in principles of marketing um into um into our business courses we are moving personal finance over to our business courses that will no longer uh be taught by a math teacher our business teacher will be teaching um and then I don't need Pottery is changing to Ceramics I don't know if that's they're super important for you to know uh couple other things that I do want point now um that this is going to be um really exciting we're adding another neat class that we're going to be offering in-house um public speaking is going to be offered by Mrs Brett um at for dmat credit so again adding on to what we're already offering which is communication skills uh calculus statistics and um applied math we now are adding public speaking in there um so she is able to teach that for empty net credit which fantastic news um and then oh sorry that was all in houses those are in house but I kind of like 8 horses offered whom we have a lot but minus the Jasper County yeah but also we have the and that's I was going to get to our concerns so this is the really big change and I just want to make sure that everybody that I highlight this for everybody so we offer what are called concern enrollment courses which are online dma um classes and the thing that we're going to change this next year based off of um cost but also based off of we're having some kids take online demand classes and then not fulfill their end of the the bargain I guess and then we're on the hook for a bill so we have decided to add in that students that wish to take a concern enrollment course which are the online do not classes not the Career Academy not the ones that we offer in house but the online ones they must be permissioned on their isas okay so that is that adds an extra layer 1 incentive call and their SS put to we want to make sure that students take this seriously and understand because we've had some students more than we've ever had um you know decide maybe they're not super interested in finishing the class or they just sort of stopped doing anything in it and uh yeah they're more on the line so and I know it's funny when I talked about the the work with open campus more kids are interested in taking online classes and I am well but that also means a very large bill for us yeah so that's what is twofold right to help kids understand that it is a it is serious business she kind of helped it cost for these classes that you take online that fulfill the DMACC and PCM credit they like Communications or something they're they're put on they can be put on their PC and transcript okay but they're it doesn't fulfill like an English 9 credit or anything like that but it can be an elective for on their transcripts for PCM why I have the mathematics personal finance it looks like it's it's taken out here but on the on the first line it says all students must take their geometry and personal finance so they have to take personal finances now being is is now in business so are you talking about just the wording of it yeah okay yeah because at first I thought first more binance oh there it is okay so I will make a note to how our counselor to change that yeah and then the other thing looks like tag was removed from 3 records so most bankruptcy and but so in the course work it's saying Nation project plans I just didn't know if you knew anything about that or I can ask Mr Crowder about that I'll make a note for that too other than that I really like all the not credit to the option yeah his personal finance is something that relevant or personal finance yeah this is State requirement but uh I think it makes sense to put it in the business role instead of that's really really changed or new to the business model yeah you just have to find a way to word that yeah that is still mandatory um but it will just count as vocational credit now instead but they still have plenty of options for math credits that they will be able to fulfill their math requirements together I'm just making notes for my file service to take a peek at those any other questions and we're seeking approval we do need approval on that motion second disposal of equipments yeah just just a requirement in policy uh that we get board approval to dispose of it um you can see in the summary we've I don't think there's a lot of value there uh I don't think Freeman music's getting rushed I think they're just kind of taking it where it is so if we could just get your approval to dispose of that those better yeah motion and second for recruitment equipment something like animals in the Middle School all those 35 budget actions set first budget public during the days um so we are required to hold 2 public hearings um the first 1 followed the um post tax notices um the soonest we could have the meeting is March 20th and so I'm recommending that we have our public hearing first 1 on that item or whoever I make a motion to approve second motion a second date March 24th at 5:35 budget guarantee resolution again um basically what this allows us to do if we are eligible um to receive the budget guarantee then um the approval for this um would allow us to receive an additional funding based off of state of supplemental Aid as well as different enrollment um so having this approval um once all of that is set and determined that that's something we are qualified for and this would allow us to proceed with the same additional funding um which is funded through motion to approve budget guarantee resolution for the 2526 school year all those in favor say I post you will be heads uh here again we reach out for fuel bids um and if you look at the attachments you can see the uh the 3 components that you got back to us um and then there's the 2526 bit that we actually sent out to everybody um asking for the both the 17,000 gallons of diesel and 5,000 of gasoline that's what we lock in our price guarantee so um if you look at the uh like New Century FS they actually didn't put in to lock in for that many gallons um which I was surprised by because that's what we asked for um about the same thing so they're just going over wrap price of whatever um whatever it's going to be plus their margin um and then 2 Rivers looks it's cheaper than what we're so I guess any questions on that Tucker we usually a bit about 15 is 2,000 gallon more because we added our Ralphs with this yeah transfer yeah because they're transferring yeah it was 15 bucks yeah well yeah because we moved it up just a little bit just before so I could see you I'd rather keep the money in the district in the local Source trying to yeah and then somewhere else and they're pretty close yeah and and uh the other companies would have to put a new tanks in and all that business and I just I haven't seen a problem um when we had that cold snap we had a problem with the fuel um but other districts to do so I guess I was thinking we owned our tanks we don't nope we need to do that we need their own our own tanks we we were going to do that and there's I think there's certain license you have to have to have that tank properties okay um that's why we didn't do that and we had that special 4 years ago about doing that and it was easier to have someone just have to take their you know they're going to maintain it they're going to maintain the bomb they're so I don't even have to look at it I just know that it's there and I don't have to worry about it so we have to pay to install them but we have to pay to install the tanks if if we move to a different company I believe they they put in their there um at least 1 company did of how much would to put the tank in 4.2 tanks and so but so speaking of that with the people Joan up and all that stuff reached out to them to see yeah that that day I see we're playing 17 cents a gallon to add yep they all they always do that and each so it was a feedback what was the feedback from you guys they said their fuel's getting good down in negative 10 and of course it was most of the negative 19 they 20 that morning so and we mixed we moved in an additive but it wasn't enough I didn't they would run and drive outside of town and then they lose power and they drive back in and I put new filters on and go back out it was just a whole game just quickly at that point so we're going to we're going to get tested tomorrow yeah they're all inside right now so they're all cozy all 1 I don't like we'll make it a way to make that makes sense some of the bigger schools probably don't have to drive as far yeah yeah I'm recommended 2 Rivers motion motion and second to go 2 Rivers for fuel bid all those in favor say I yeah that's me Tyler I hope I said that right you did yeah um we have some Meraki are vendor we use for all of our networking equipment so it's our firewall firewall our switch is our access points um in the our licensing expires the sphere in September so I added that to our e-rate for 2025 so we got bids from I think 5 vendors the winning bid was from Riverside Technologies we've used in the past as well um so for a 5 year license renewal it's 154,000 uh Within part of the greatest we get a 60 60% of that you know so just kind of standard renewal license and I mentioned in Finance too just thanks to Tyler uh e-rate is I mean it's more or less automatic money within parameters but there there is work involved with filing in rate and doing the paperwork and deadlines and things we appreciate you being on top of that does this compare to what it was last year um this is the first time we've had our first contract with 5 years then so usually their license structure when you buy new equipment you get licensing and that adds it to the pool which pushes it back something so we kind of just hit that point where we have purchased it in the past and now we're very we have a motion and a second for equipment yeah pretty pretty light list how many no motion and second to approve the journalism class Bingo fundraiser all those in favor of the time of 25 senior trip um so I I put this on here um now just so that everybody was aware that that when the trip was and where they're going we don't have an itinerary informed yet because um we were accepting checks and deposits up until Friday and so now um Mr Shaffer who has taken over for Minister Beto um the senior trip and I'm so thankful he did um he's able to to count the money count the kids and be able to form an itinerary based off of um how much money they have and what they've collected um more than likely it's going to be almost identical to what we've always done in Chicago but um once I get that itinerary and he's created that I am I will 100% share it with you but we normally have it on this agenda for this month um so I'm just giving Mr Shaffer a little bit of Grace because this is his first year doing this and so um we don't have the itinerary so you can share the information item in a month yes once we get it I will I'll email it to that game we'll put it on here but um I think we do we need a motion and and for both senior trip yes just to approve to see if your trip so uh April 29th to May 1st they're headed to Chicago I'm joining um this this year just because it is who she first first year so I would be uh going along so hard to be there and um a couple of other shepherds are going for you so you have motion and second to approve the senior trip Chicago all those in favor say I you will be bargained with you have the whole agreement there but uh this was a wages only year so article 6 so it shows that the increase in wages there proportional long 63 There is is there a 45 step per hour after after each 1 of those completions it says uh employ Grant an additional 45 cents per hour after completing 4 914 and 19 years of service after each loss it's it's it's like um their salary is so like 0 to 5 year 0 to 4 and then once you're on the next year you will have 45 cents on top of whatever the base is so it's 1 of those you get 40 bucks yes like every 5 years or whatever that that's what I was asking because it really doesn't say that yeah sorry well make it more uh read or friendly next year when we review the language it it was very yeah very easy amicable conversation I didn't tell any there really pleased with the way things were going right now so I really really happy with this back in we have a motion and a second to approve the IOU the large and agreement all those in favor of tonight top 4 lines the muscular materials yeah sorry so there's a thousand dollars less than what I put in this morning I was in quite a way but I was sending you guys emails hi it's important to note that this comes out like a couple this is something that was voted to the bond that comes out of the property taxes on improvements to the district yeah we're looking I'll make a motion to agree second we have a motion and a second to approve the softball lights through must go and be monitored all in favor say I for policy policy committee did not meet this month when they haven't really been any significant changes coming through policy and primer from ISB and we're on schedule we're in good shape so Aaron and I will pull you together if you possibly can make members are missing it we'll we'll get you back in and we'll meet you superintendent I don't really have anything there that we haven't already covered yes you can you can learn it first here we're anticipating to our delay for a cold weather tomorrow we're not yet announced it but Kylie is the first student to Vision I know to that I don't know if that's really the shop it's not a big shocker I'm I'm more surprised it's
