and after school program they've made a commitment we get an interest survey from errands and we had tons of interest in both campuses it was interesting because both Monroe and Prairie City Elementary number of people saying they wanted before and after will care so we are working now we can't fire kids were trying to secure some funding through United Way for start-up costs and through Jasper County to get some start-up costs with going and then they'll be off you don't have to coordinate the program here in our Care on PD days and then care for summer programming for some of our parents with four and five-year-olds are nervous to give up their daycare slot because they only do the summer so if we bring back before and after school care we almost have to operate during the summer so they're willing to do that and so I'm pretty excited about but I wanted to get to where we are I am 95% certain that we are moving and that will be coming through to the board agreement so they can use its kind of Aster that were provided to our families they hire the staff to pay the staff a planner staff can work for us and then they do all the registration parents have to register it's really a really great deal where I came from or School actually Miranda before and after school program and that was a lot of work for us to just make sure we had staff and they really are interested in having some high school work and I thought that's a great opportunity for kids so I'm not going to try to walk another option for employment here in town okay action item number one 2022 graduating seniors you're good I'm sorry sorry it will have to be a motion to approve the graduating seniors for 2022 all right my emotion s all those in favor now 21 a real Batman thank you so much amending the agenda to give us the opportunity to come and we found out Saturday morning that we had been accepted into the tournament and then I promptly found out that registration is due May 1st that's why we needed to very quickly get it are ducks in a row so we could come in tonight but we would like to ask the school board for permission to attend the Maryland Invitational or MPI tournament June 24th through the 26th and Laurel Maryland it's an offseason tournament over 100 teams applied from I believe seven different countries somewhere that usually takes about 30 teams I don't know how many were accepted this year but I would assume in the same neighborhood so it's very competitive to get in they looked at our season heads on over the course of the last and then they looked at a video run that we submitted so I'm so just getting very excited it would the benefits of this would be to compete against teams of a higher caliber have the chance to choose from around the country and around the world and it would it would provide a very similar experience to what the team would have received we have gotten to advance the world so right now we're looking at four team members are able to go the rest of the team have other commitments the chaperones would be myself my husband who were the coaches of the team we propose that we drive there we have to get all of our equipment there it's about a 15 hour drive all the equipment and it would be much more cost-effective so I'm trying to be the budget items and then our fundraising proposals are we would like to send a letter to local businesses and tasks concert asking for contributions I would like to do a fundraiser selling T-shirts hoodies and buttons with the King logo we would like to sell bars similar to what we did last year we had a boxer in the library with a with a canister and I believe we had our profit margin was about a dollar candy bar but we have a lot of teeth staff that's put in Morris and then we also will ask each team member to contribute to the cost of the trip I'd very much like to keep it under $200 closer to $100 that would be even better so yeah I'm trying to look through your fundraiser the registration 122 gas is 400 GB a break it up and not do Straight driving out so I so I figure out hotels there and back to break up the trip will be at 422 lb we can do an Airbnb we're all of us to say and one house for about $862,000 we have to be to motel room and the cheapest I can find is 1054 so that's why there's a little bit what do we normally Miss do you like when want to know all that I can do and then one was kind of just what it doesn't have school and you can see they had a band instructor using it so that you could see the variety if it isn't just for those I can tell you that Tyler and his team have done are y'all rolling them out and supporting our teachers and using them there were a couple teacher that we put them in their classrooms and they were really like non-techie people and they have embraced them in fact they're some of our greatest support now they're like this is amazing this I liked it I didn't think I would I didn't want one that came out said I don't want one and then we just said we need to have this for me why do I think it's really important if we have a sitter at home we can immediately we can record what's going on can watch it so you can record that a kiss you can share their screens up they're they're they're like oh we can capture it but big as if Interactive so we'd like to continue to expand and it's not just working 5th grade we'd like to have some at the preschool because they're so interactive we want them to be able to text them so that would come out of our preschool categorical funds are Tyler regular budget and that first week in May at least I have a question like art answers for the year how much percentage did we raise our budget like from last year we know that cost 21-22 budget this is for the okay so take answer your question next it was kind of a mix cuz I'm able to go and break it down to to the in one of your reports were talking about like the salaries and benefits of supplies I kind of did it knowing of where those things are so r r r line or object number 600 is kind of what supplies you will see your food supply is your maintenance supplies your cleaning supplies that one that I did put more on I-4 but I really didn't mix cuz not everything is going up you know we had benefits going down but I put a higher percentage for this year on that one even my car fuel and everything the highest percentage on this one and it's just a year-to-year I mean that I didn't go high all the all five years out because I don't know I think that would be a little bit too excessive right now but as it is we know next year's property higher and then hopefully we'll kind of even out that would be the hope that we'll talk about it again next year and there are enough when we when I did my budget for fiscal 21 knowing that we had your money and stuff like that but you know you really tried that was one of the goals is trying to get in there knowing that you could spend it all you couldn't so we are going to be closed but the best thing to do is to go ahead and send it I'll pull together some figures in may bring it back cuz I'll have to kind of publish what it is intended to tell you but it's the right thing to do to make sure that we look at those specific areas made brick machine is the May board meeting that's plenty of time I can publish it we can have Okay thanks man for non-pc staff do the governors thousand dollars for teachers that came out a month ago I think we proved that at the last meeting so many school districts across the state are or have already provided stipends to all of their staff throughout the school year so we ran a quick survey of this district and I'm on a whisper of all of them at over 80% of the district in the state of Iowa and staff colfax-mingo did it at Christmas time way ahead of the governor so we sat down and looked at what other districts were doing and 3 money or the appropriate category is something that we can use our categorical funds for legislatively there's talk of additional money given to schools to do this type in if not move through yet if it does but if that were to happen we would not offer additional today but we could just use that come back though this money to reimburse ourselves but there is no guarantee that could happen but we are recommending and you can see under the Skype and request that would be the document that I would open just give you a broader picture of what we are recommending or the reality is I think the intention of the governor was was good but even she has admitted that it maybe wasn't fought through as well as it should have been because teachers were not the only ones at work start because we're not the only ones that put in extra hours I can speak to every single one of these groups that if put in extra hours covering classes or secretary's most of them are in the building at 7 in the morning and they don't clock in till 7:30 cuz I want to make sure all the classes are covered for Subs and so we just went through and what we haven't had a lot of people come out and complain I know there are people that didn't get it but really like you guys are the only ones that are important around here how many other districts moved to do that so that is if the board would like to do that like a different number that I don't know Aaron was it you wanted to know how do we get to that number spell it out more like to say how many administrators he added that document of the retention bonus but I think the stipend one was already on there what is that leaving sr3 account what are this week so stay for a preschool associate there's a large balance there so I look at some of these to see where there is other category of funding that we have found so we have a spend down and then look at a sir 1500 what is a trend what's it looking like cardi B so there's two pockets of s or money which we have quite a bit of the one that is where is specifically for learning lost quite a bit of that 123000 weeks only spent 14 6 of that so we have a 109,000 left of that learning loss and then the general one that we and that's where we're taking put it in there so like I said we have a few hundred between the few as her son's we have $220,000 so I would have to yeah there's that we can vary depending on where the Associates could be in five what are the extra ones that it was a teacher that started mid-year so she didn't qualify some of these are teachers and 22 they were getting teacher pay as well so that's what those three are have to be competitive with surrounding school districts to get bus drivers and well we have a good pool we have a couple fireman's this year so we want to that area you're going to speak to there's a building secretary with extra days and going to see a difference in my task we are moving to of our secretaries to give them district-wide assignment so one of us will become a District Registrar what we're struggling with a little bit of having someone who was managing our Infinite Campus is making sure addresses are up-to-date when kids come to register well I'm going to take a look at recipes that we don't have someone tracking have been paid the registration fees are we following up on those feed and then were also since I've arrived communication has been something that's been brought to my attention that if we want to get better and communicate I really hope it doesn't make them Wonder really help us focus on making sure we're sending out the right message Jeremy isn't working on Org 20205 the number of them that when we went through that if you look at me the student 202.005 student for student School Board representative it's not on my simply list kids we don't have it it's in the recommended we don't have that big document has a lot of pollution could it be like that student council president and they're busy attached if you go down there's a note in it says the board to determine the process for how students May apply or be selected to be the student School Board representative while the specific process does not need to be detailed in this policy the board should know and have decided upon a process so that's something in the past we just said that you don't like this kind of went and asked the student council representative but it wasn't anything formal and lovely and I went through a formalized it and we specifically didn't advertise school student representative to the school board and students really apply and maybe the board to review if you don't want to vote or you can have a boat you could select part of that comes with knowing our meeting. Monday we really want them to be the person to be here and have boys and maybe they're the only maybe a person who would have applied for that would would know that ahead of time instead of saying I miss you when I can get to it I really want to see the same person here more consistent I can tell you that it is empowering for them especially when we ask for their ID and we listen to what I have to say so it's really important to understand that if we're asking for the info we want them to give us physically job description he has to apply and so we approve a ballot and then students can vote so that was a new one to us that we didn't have that we really would like you to consider really think through how would that look there is a copy and the packet I uploaded all the changes there is a what would the length of the term be that your recommend there's another policy I'm just going through the list and I'm I really wanted to highlight some of the things that we had questions about so one is we have aboard security and action there is no ifb policy for that but in our notes from ISP they take it out and what was our notice changing a shower to Mayo well-being I still have that in we thought just given the the environment in the space and the things that we had this year but definitely look over that can I say one I want to keep that 219 Doe Run 2060 to that's the next time we do that anyway so I don't know why I let you know that was I think what their concern is I don't know like a kind of and you know I think that's why I'm just saying good I don't even know but I was just at that was just a recommendation so we don't mean they just look through it and give us their feedback yeah so one of the questions was we had a he had me double-check was the policy the vice-president policies this year we we split that and so our policy doesn't read that a Lily's? Do we need to change our policy what I found out is no you don't need to change our policy but what should happen is the board has the authority to have two presidents if you want it or you no door policy says one but we needed to do was to have separate motions and vote package package deal and what we should have done I just asked him I'm just telling you see what I found out that's all I I was asked to check into it and I did that we needed one to say we want coal and then the phone support needed to decide they wanted to have two vice-presidents then we needed to vote for each of those separately if that makes sense so every member of the board had an opportunity if you were sitting there and said I would like I do that now but I know it's going to be cold I didn't want to do it if it was if it was on it was all on my own and so we don't need to go change anything now I just Leslie had a question do we need to change our policy no but if we you guys have the right to do that for any position just make sure we separate the decision-making out so would have been three motion so we should have a policy if it was overdue and mean I mean I probably won't do it again but it was just you know it's not having color Smitty's I know man I tried to read all of it last night so yeah then there's different committees and so it's a little confusing because there's ad hoc committee will be committees the board would choose to I have Community member to your part of the study and issue that you want Study deeper that's the ad hoc and then we have a there's a policy that she sees him has on standing committee there is no corresponding is a policy doesn't mean it's wrong it just means they don't have one on standing committees so that's something we're putting out to you just think about I really if you're going to go through and read you know you're like okay there's a lot of its what do I really really need to read that standing committee I really think it would be a great idea I'm advising you to really study down and think about what direction you know you may want to go if you had any thoughts when we looked through that one the ad hoc committee I think just giving us an option it's there if we need it and if it shows what's its purpose what they're supposed to do as a member and how we get it how we get membership so I think that's that's useful if we would ever need that the standing committee I mean if we have the standing committee the way the policies are in this we have to do standing committees versus the work session which is where we're at right at the moment and so weak hybrid going because we're doing work sessions and I think it's been valuable personally I've learned a lot in that process and the given taken the conversation about weather and it doesn't mean that we can't go back to standing committees but the language that they cancel each other out so that is how I would be so we're going to we're going to stay with we we can we can either revise the standing committee policy or we can eliminate it for now and we could bring it back if you feel like you need to highlight something that we want you to think about what you did it for and we can talk about it at the work session we could also maybe get guidance on changing the language of the standing 32 in lieu of work session the board may elect to use standing committees for functions are or how we want to do it I think we could think about that and we can get some guidance on what weather that language would be so yeah it's it's food for thought and we can put it on at least a discussion item at our next board session maybe chips then you know 15 minutes on a couple of these policies that we really were would be in a lot of pain you're going to see the numbers.
