yes Scott brass yes okay we need Amendment for the agenda in pursuing as requested by students you don't have to change it from right at the end of our agenda do we need a motion to approve the agenda okay if it's a girl 23 physical year 23 certified budget amendment hearing sing none will cause hearing remove the good news. The good news so I just first of all thank you to our school board School Board recognition and so we just going to grab some pictures of all of you so we can get something out we do appreciate it the amount of time is incredible so I want you to know that I appreciate also want to give a shout out to retirement still Vanderlinden and Judy mandolin in the kitchen at Menzel works as a bus driver and they will definitely be missed for the cornea get up Virgil and come forward and try and do you have anything to say to try and drop forward to me I don't know remind me but we had a really bad car accident on the east side for a city here about a week ago maybe it'll help it would have been impossible you're really asking job getting all the kids across the road safely work with our fire department really well so I thank you Virgil browning out my second year I have the Courtney's never missed like if you're in Prairie City they are always there so thank you for your dedication and dependability Alberto can go back to work and then I just like there's been so many amazing things happening the PTO and PTA groups another thing being really an outsider to this community coming here by word the amount of sport parent organizations provide our schools provide our teachers the fun night the parents who donated to these baskets I had a great time going in a city and seeing his beautiful bath do all those things really help our school district grow stronger we're stronger together and then today I saw the email came out that the First Baptist Church of Monroe since school survival kits and I attached a picture of what they sent for the end of the year which I thought was really cute it was a basket treats for teachers to survive the last year so kind of thoughtful things that happened with people in our community I want to give a shout out to their way more than I meant to hear but yeah next up is great team we are going to have a short presentation with our boy in 5th grade team that was one thing a few months Elementary combining 4th and 5th grade we wanted some updates and they have been working hard and here they said so, wouldn't want you to see who they are but we want to give them an opportunity for the floor is yours I'm going to start a little bit of actually going to do a video on a few people because they really wanted to be here but we have a lot of teachers who also coach and you are doing coaching opportunities so you can see them they really want to be a part of that okay thank you okay hello everyone I am I've been teaching 3rd grade A PCM for 12 years I'd like to take this opportunity to say thank you for the positive change for p c m I'll be teaching 4th grade next year and I am excited to work with a committed four an old and very enthusiastic team we are ready to embrace all 4th grade students as they begin a new chapter in cm our fourth grade team has diligently been planning our new schedules I will be teaching the literacy and science locks with Mr Hudson I Am dedicating a part of my summer to prepare for this new Journey 4th grade chain has high expectations not only for students but also for ourselves we've been working very hard every Monday in our meeting trying to prepare all the new schedule and everything that we can think of that might happen we want to be prepared for so we strive for excellence and as a team will overcome challenges we know it's a new beginning and I expect some challenges to happen but we have a strong team and so I feel like we will just overcome everything that happens and really okay really that's all I have because I was kind of going to do the introduction part of our fourth grade team and so I believe that mr. hudnut is next and but I want to stay if you have any questions or concerns please feel free to reach out to us come visit us please come to the classroom fourth grade fifth grade that's where it all happens and is love what it said Excellence were all excellent from all that we expect a lot from our students so I'm sure that it will be an excellent Year and I hope you're all surprised cuz I know it's just going to be awesome so thank you so Mister Donut that they've been our next door neighbors for we talk all the time anyways and then we're teaching math and social studies together so we've been talking a lot about what we want those two blocks to look like and then this Monday we have a fly up there then it's getting kind of did it and then we're going to have the 4th and 5th Monroe students come up with Gracie and no get to me they're both of their new teachers and then we're going to give them 2 hours of the buildings show them all different specials rooms and things like that so I'ma keep working this is my 9th year so next year will be at your 10 for me and I didn't know it was like a change that I wanted and then when I don't have to leave here and having been here with me is amazing and we planned our field trip this year to go to the historical building together all four sections of third grade and we went and we had and so we met up with her and like two words that Circle building so it was really fun getting them all together and just get it so like you said we've been neighbors for like the past five years and I'm really excited with them we've been well for me I know I'm going to be driving more into a standard since we're going to be doing the rest of this year before I started looking at what is excited so thank you and just as an implant I'm not from this area so see you in the direction School summer school and when I found this position I want to start like right now so I have been how am I going to design my classroom I how am I going to get my kids pumped up excited about doing some activities to like Allen's I really want to work out but I'm really excited about Teen Challenge I just cannot wait I just want the key to my car me like I already planning and ideas and I just thank you so much for this opportunity just to be one subject I think it's going to benefit life and myself so again thank you so much I'm Robin Dolan I keep special ed and I do right now I've been there for 13 years I talked if I pass fourth grade ideas I'm excited I'm going to do like three or four teachers I'm going to gain more knowledge and I do right now in New Mercy projects this is the best decision for our students in Edinburgh next year planning and creating what we will experience small things to give you some insight call the mercy tree or not. bigger things we've been working on right now we want to make sure it's at work dependence and so most of our. as we are still together getting the same experience and then the same and then die you got to share it with you. Promotion to fruit principal director updates you want anybody out of there I think we're good look sharp Ryan's got those beside him I think we're good business items a s discussion items District Insurance renewal 23 * 23 call Edwards our insurance agent is here we've had several conversations over the last couple months on where we're going to land with a originally we thought maybe 15% then he got a big email and notification remains to be higher than that cost and that unit just like with everything else Kyle came in at the last minute with a very I'm very happy to say our renewal did not have it was not at 50 20% so he is loaded the documents they just share with me last week this not an action item but I thought I'd bring it this month in case you have any questions any changes anything going to look at it and will bring it back to June meeting for the actual approval. I just want to come tonight and see you yes any questions or if you had a chance to look at it like she said we've been talking back and forth and EMC has been kind of all over the board with what they're doing with schools and all they told us is going to be large increases both District on the how do you say they're looking for that 20 to 45% increase doesn't look as bad as that's a lot of people's EMC did actually find it a rating air from last year I actually emailed her on Friday they just told us on Friday that they found the rating are so you're going to get a actual substantial credit for the current year so then this term is going to look like your and exact same amount the property value themselves when I buy 7% that's one thing that we may look at it say that we need to have a UPS come out and look to see if our values in line in that email. values of all the building was inflation the cost of everything labor everything is left something they did change this year on the property side is they put cosmetic exclusions to metal buildings and that's there is no opportunity by that fact a small hail storm comes through and damage of a metal roof just meant it's not actually going to leave water in it they're going to exclude that now so so I went through this at all but yeah property rates have gone up where at the lower end of that 20% number what you got to looking at doesn't have a credit on it that's about on Friday the overall it's about a 20% rate increase from a year ago but overall. the steer general liability they've just been seeing substantial claim so he can see that when Adam actually has gone up about 20% as well I'm just the amount of claims it's just the Verity of the claims on the general liability side and some of that is sexual harassment you know in this context molestation that's one of the big ticket items right now but it rather large is going through here on the pollution side there's no changes there I don't recommend do anything different than what have been the excess liability that is another layer of liability that goes on top reliability and the umbrella and that is shared by all the schools in the program so two years ago we have 30 million dollars last year was so reducing that insurance carriers are tightening their guidelines for all this stuff producing it so what I would recommend doing it is since we're reducing the excess we probably want to increase our umbrella I talked to the MC we can only go up and I'm just going to tell you where are you 4 million I would recommend doing the five just the cop isn't that great but with eyes of the clients mentioned a couple of a we're going to want to go that route the crime coverage that's employee dishonesty for jury that take stuff you guys have had a fairly low limit for a long time and it's just been some of the oddest numbers there hasn't been the steps in place to protect against it as first is that people you know how his signature on checks but not fake stuff which leases getting that way we're having a office staff and I have that in place but they are to have an option to go to 500,000 500,000 which I would highly recommend the linebacker which is basically your guys's that coverage not a whole lot of changes I rather than Gallery increases commercial Autos all the buses and everything but the insurance company doesn't anything that's 10 years or newer that transports kids replacement cost so one item that I put on there this week I'll be right back with Tucker today do we have enough money on these limits you to choose do we have enough time to your place about 5 so I'm see you again inflation of all that stuff is go on a worker's comp that's that's the best news of all this stuff is your experience rating which is just simply school and how we got substantially better so we had a fairly large claim drop off of that rating so yeah you were to save 20% just in the experience. that is audited each year as far as payroll goes so at the end of the school year so fill out all the information and that truly determines the the information if you but at the turn right now we are free per cent increase on it just for inflation are you know if the teacher getting ready for that type of stuff breaking out on that one of the things that the school district at some point in time in the past Henry helps with our workman's comp as we have that the first call was an extra step that helps were maybe it's not a large claim goes forward but that is one thing that they they recommend for keeping some of the rates down there by calling in and doing that were they have a nurse triage it safe and do we need to do anything or whatever that substantial amount medical time off work it doesn't affect your mod buy a 70% Factor so you can see people working or doing light duty whatever we can do to keep them going to hang them it helps us to work out the Cyber coverage we have a million-dollar we actually did have a Jester in the whole program took that the market this year they look at other carriers and so it actually did help reduce the rate so you have a pretty good savings there for our renewal now we can look at going to to 9 a.m. you can see the car is on there but it's just it's just an option. We figured we put on there as far as our claim to your PC M this past year we got to property claims weren't a whole lot only $700 or end up being paid out I'm winded up to 10 workout plans with two of them still open but all of them were fairly Minor Medical thanks that shouldn't affect our very much so I just want to give some of that on the ability side this this is some of the claims that have come out of the program likely not our school but I just wanted to tell you what some of the claims have been this past couple years in 2019 one of the one of the school today bus driver rear ends someone that claim right now is reserved for 7.3 million in 2021 and 2019 a similar situation bus accident so the claims are getting really really large on any kind of liability so that's where I was but that is a raccoon work for me and now we're four million now and then we got that 10 million but it shared amongst all the school inappropriate technically I have a question on the Cyber I'm so I'm sure Tyler can probably talk about this too but I know what happens when I go to our business there's a lot more discussion about the Cyber hacks that they're getting in and what they had to do right now and then use the I wish Johnston and the amount of that the way that people are getting in and it's and doing the ransom and all that what's up until I'm sure you've probably heard some of the guards you need to be put in place so is that something that we do need to increase because of the potential that potential of what could happen is getting larger and larger that's kind of what I'm hearing on the business manager role to bed I didn't know from you so and that's why I emailed them back and forth and look at the application for the room but yes I mean the multi-factor all that stuff is always good to have the more you can have the better because they are getting really good at you know the email scams are much too late so yeah having to limit the tire would be a good thing but yeah he needs to just keep doing his thing and making sure we're up to date on all the technology available any empty if we don't do this by MC we can get there's a lot of training and stuff that they could see through that we can get him hooked up with those folks I don't know if you remember the past that you can see used to give out a rebate throughout the year based on their how they've been doing and rebate is probably not the term dividend dividend and after year we have not gotten that lately that this year we have not ask for that used to be kind of in the same with the MC you know we would let you know I don't know what your school district is sometimes I know my other soldiers it would get $7,000 bad sometimes 2012 that has not been happening that you know another thing that Kyle and I have talked about and I know that he's working on and I really appreciate it is right now and she has the market on there is a lot of competition so they basically can reduce that limit from 30 million to 50 million to 10 million so I know you're working with a group you have of a what possibilities are out there and we talked to some you know when we brought that natural gas cool how that's going to help we talked about maybe there's something like that or looking at everything and I know last year we looked at a different one through gal insurance and that wasn't quite the right fit at this time the Kyle is continually at least he's telling me he continually looking and disgusting and is in a group and maybe just a little bit that they're discussing what are some options we can have to see something because when you have the Monopoly on the market you're able to basically do make the decision so that we don't have a lot of stay for it so I appreciate that you are constantly trying to get information and and make those changes if we can do that is 2 + little bit last year and it wasn't this year because I actually have portrayed the good thing about me is like she said if you actually have a good year and return a lot of that it did you know like earlier this year we had 50 to 59 million for the whole going through their 2020 you know what the 3 show paid out 162 million just that one year 111 million of a camper one day last few years ago all the great shows all the property has been bad but then you know we mentioned that even if you have to take 111 - 62 you still passed your 59 million that they took me in so there's still a hundred percent loss ratio and I just can't seem to get ahead so I can only assume that the next probably going to be increased its two-week talk to other carriers what that okay do we do just property with another carrier right now if you can have a painter to them saying if you take a piece out we may not hear options that I'd recommend you know take a look at the umbrella especially increasing you know about that dream to amend that it's a clear 23 certified budget it is definitely recommended this year to amend our budget I'd be not sure there's very many schools that aren't due to the large Mendes or money we got the attention that was hundred thousand and some of the other things going on so what I shared with you is what was published in the because we have to do the same with us as certifying her budget my process is still kind of estimate where where are or currently not over or certified budget and unannounced next item that I cannot hear next handout is I went through and created a couple different things on budget one that certified budget that's the one in red that is what we are amending tonight and in the four areas of instruction total Support Services non-instructional programs and total other expenditures those are the four areas that can't or we're not supposed to go over that line item I'm not necessarily our overall budget we've gone over but sometimes one thing will hey if we decide to put on a $700,000 roof which we did is make sure you have it in that budget and it doesn't go over without one line item so what I put on there is what are certified budget year to date before Amendment and then what I admitted it to I should cover the rest of the year and all the extra stuff that we have so that's the the red headings is the certified budget it is all funds included that's in a fun 71 that's fun you know every single we have heard that service and then after I talk to the doctor havenstrite we she had an example of she found another school of kind of breaking down the general fund so the certified is kind of that pop up as all the funds together and then you can kind of see where we're at we're general climate certain areas of Revenue and certain areas of expenditure budget is always a working document that you can send where were at Kohl's for the year you may see some areas are a little bit over and somewhere a lot under which we know that that's going to happen in a purchase service sanone C300 3% do whatever but by the end of the year that will not be that but it has to do with when we did our roof part of our payment on there I'm so over all if you look at our total revenue for the year and this is through I put on there your due date for the end of April so we have May and June left and then we have some of kools modified accrual that we have to do you know we're sitting at 85% at what we budget for Revenue and a total of 83% of our expenditures made so overall and our line items for General fun we're looking pretty good should you hit pretty close to our Target it is changing with the extra money you know what the retention you know that does this a working document but anyways the amended budget as you can see is on there what I meant if you and that should cover it through the end of the year work on our audit reports are going over that one of the areas least I have a question on state categorical funds under Revenue we should be fine for 7 a.m. added three more zeros on there sorry about that apartment needs to be another zero State category of fun and I can tell you that you need to budget because they tell you I already in your certified budget that you certified for next year I already know what that is that does not change unless there's some drastic I guess we are causing her special a dork we had a huge discrepancies in their survival world which we do not that's the only time that changed that's pretty easy so I will get that that correctly when I traded that I dropped a couple zeros property tax again as you I talked about property tax cute baby pictures throughout the year in the fall when you pay your property taxes we get those revenue and then again in the spring and then over the course of the rest of the month it's just a little bit here and there but yes I will crack down on the jungle but this is something that I have to bring back a restraint that we're going to provide to you each month so you can kind of see where we're at at the questions we're at if you don't see any anomalies anything that jumps out and then also keep the trap on them play basis of the certified by that have all the fun if you remember that was one area in the audit they said that we should have amended and just I felt like such an errand that way you could be every month you see where we're at and if it looks like we're going to go over weekend what were being asked to do here just to prove the Jax Raiders stats by the overall budget this is just those four areas to where you know maybe I budgeted X Mountain instruction that we actually have more in Support Services because we bought a curriculum but that has happened to me before is that somebody actually bought a $50,000 Cricket on budget and June adoption June over that area so it's kind you know we could be so much under in one area or $1 over in like coal Support Services then we'll get a mark on that but no effect on text race whatsoever a motion to approve favor be here and she's had a family emergency so the band trip would like approval to go to Orlando next year during spring break the cost of B6 1660 $10 per student they will be going to Universal Studios three Disney parks for during the week and kind of Music Workshop of the band and choir will be so they're really excited the price of that includes three meals buffets so the kids will eat up in the morning dinners in the park for dinners and then obviously be snacks next show me about that trip they race the money promotion sectional couch March 2nd 2023 school fees what we do we are recommending the changes to the meal for Teacher leadership positions and so as we just talked about we really working on getting a strong teacher leadership program that would support all the things going on in the district but also having a district-wide connection so you will see each Administration has their own leadership team and they interviewed and hired this position instructional coaches that were assigned primarily by building last year will they still will have a Home Route it will also have a district-wide focus so that we can ensure that we're moving together so you can see we are required just to let you know I want to see require but highly recommended and they do monitor the number of the percentage of teachers in our district so you might be why so many we need to try to hit the 25 25% of our teachers having a leadership opportunity and we need that with our Ventures any more discussion there best gearing for categorical find transfer to expunge Flex categorical funds and sell last year we did not do that at least I just need a little bit more time and how we were spending nose and using those categorical funds so we have a few that we would like to ask the board to approve transferring there no motion there so we will move on to the audit firm contract modification our current auditor are our current Auto contract as a three-year contract this year I just want your 22 second year of the contract hun Cain decided to get out of public audit so that would be City Schools County and so when they did that most the people that in their firms that worked on the public audits is pretty much the same crew or lasalette go and so in order to continue on the people. letgo forms a new audit firm to basically public audit will be their focus will do other things and so in order for us to go with them you need to modify the contract and has given permission because basically they're getting out of that is that they sold their public audits to the new firm that created everybody that went with the new firm the terpstra and how they are the same ones that have done our audit police last two years so it's the same group with the difference of one of the people did retire and it's just no longer with either one of them so we will continue for last year for the audit with the new firm and then in the fall we'll go out for an RFP to get our new 3 or 1 I think at this time of year is a very bad here to go out I mean we have that option is to try to go out on you are that most got it from Zari got their Summers scheduled I see no problem going changing the contract to the new firm because it's the same people in the same information that they're wrong and then on the phone will go out for our feet so will they honor Lisa a question I had was they had put a proposal would not exceed will they honor that they will honor that did not see this coming had no idea I had no idea until we receive the letter Hibbetts couple weeks ago what is meant by if a single audit is required an additional fee will be the extra audit due to if you exceed the amount of a federal funding which we did with all of our lunch and and nothing like that and remember there is that email we got cuz he had to upload it to us special site and we had to go in and approve it that's what that means and bigger school do is see that we usually do not but with call Dad freeze lunches that that's Federal programming that qualified almost I believe about every state and Iowa person bought it other companies do this on a printer several there are on you know when I've done Arby's I said I'll just go to neighboring schools and and do art piece on my son amount to 10:12 but usually you were lucky to get 3 back it's pretty much the same one so that's what we'll do is in the fall will do an RFP I'll send them out to like I said as many firms as I can find so we can get a good good one obviously hunting and it's not one I'll send it to her like I said for having one more year left and at the timing it's just best that we continue on the there probably be very little change will see since it is the same people and then we'll do our RFP and the we're not planning on another two-year contract the rest of the contract that was already in place and then when the fall go out for an RFP bring back to you and lock for a 3-year that's usually the call Mint room that you do for an audit because it I think a lot of times you can ask for one year quote or three-year quote they like the three-year because you know switching out of her every year is another going to charge more for you to because that's a lot of work to switch three years they've got a system going so basically they're assuming our previous contract that's what they're doing they're taking over or they sent out a letter to see if we would approve them to take over but they would like to yes started from contract modification STI board policy review we are presenting the 100 series for second reading and approval comments or questions motion to approve ocean all of the paper for the second reading approval 100 series 200 series first reading we've had this up and shared it lovely and talk and I have gone over these again today before the meeting to review probably the one we really want to talk about what is the show me popsicle board members who want to change the language on that to assure the community that but rather is to help activities so we will work on that couple before the next time what you're seeing here is not what we discussed at 4:30 or 4:45 if you want to just about standing for me I think it would be beneficial to everyone in school district honestly say I've met a lot of great people as well as learned many valuable lessons in life aside from fa I also took out which really grew my passion towards welding and fabricating my junior year of high school is when things started getting more serious I was opportunity to attend American Academy and that's a cute picture let's enjoy the same thing this to me I've worn the technical side of welding such as how to set up and operate the machine properly I have learned how to read and write through friends and most importantly in my opinion thanks for my grave instructor Jared Kingery I have learned real life side of welding and by that I mean we were taught what in real-world to overcome problems when we won't be able to just look in the book or watch a video to tell us how to do what's up and I really think that was one of the most important skills I could have gained by going there I'm very thankful that my instructor taught me that and how to be successful in your pendulum that same year that I start going to DMX my two uncles and my Dad decided to start Semco which stands for General Wyoming company another reason welders from work out that's when we start building first Busters or GM Martensdale a little bit of a backstory Uncle John is looking into getting their racing machine up sometime for a farm and then I ended up finding out about the curse buster so then John talk to Jim about this machine and he found out that Jim had been looking for someone to go Beast Machines for him so they talked a little while and quite a while after that we start building up for him the idea of the first Buster was targeted towards vertical tillage and to allow water and oxygen to penetrate a comeback compacted topsoil of the fields the most important part of these machines is the time decide Peter Bannon from New Zealand came up with the design of these times in the 70s he was a Dairy Farmer that uses machine in his pastures Jim Martin Chalmette theater in New York in the 80s and adapt Peter designed to row crop use because he play soil consultant design of these times is not as simple as they
