call Dean ordered will call Leslie the next. senior Meijer motion to approve the agenda you can see what I put up there I am going to go right away bring up the FFA students who went to the National Convention and have them talk right away this is big news they have a short presentation for you and they want to talk about their experience and I should stray let them stay with the police science how you guys there forward National Convention recap slides I'm dating Fairbanks Bonhomme Richard Good Times recap as a team we got a bronze rating individual ratings Meredith Riley knife all about bronze with so Basics about what we did is we had to develop a product this year it was based off a blue in Asia so we came up with the Thai vegan gluten-free noodle meal do a lot of different practicum so there's math nutritional calculations and greeting quality processing condition quality customer inquiry specification data and then sensory evaluation where we think it was different to Roma's and we have to identify what they are out of the list of 30 or so and then triangle test which is trying to out of three different products besides determine which one is the and then we also threw this opportunity were able to meet a lot of different state competitors still in the bottom right corner you can see different competitors and they are from Wisconsin the next Rose convention so we we had opening ceremony and then National Forest nation and the keynote speaker at a convention basically work together in different things you can do so one of the first church she took was Fair Oaks and it there an apple orchard but they also produce like milk and eggs cuz they have a whole bunch of other and so there's some baby pigs that we saw this isn't simulation of a pregnant Pig you do an ultrasound on it you have something else you found this is a milking machine for the cows get milk and the cows are trained to walk on and off John Deere was one of her second stops and what we did there as we've got climb into some of the different equipment John Deere hat and see what all is in there the last time we did was beyond. just see how many different machines that have been made kind of cool to see you and so it's a good time so some of our axe throwing in zip city so axe throwing there were just a bunch of different areas we all were in like teams and we sometimes can get in games but it was just a great chance to bond different people that you normally wouldn't talk to this city there were ropes courses rock walls there was a zip line that one was really fun house of us hung upside down from it there were there was a trampoline park and there was like a trampoline and basketball part but yeah those are definitely a lot of fun we also stopped at the IndyCar Hall and we just the sea kind of the evolution of NASCAR's and things like that and I was really cool to see you so what is my favorite part was the zip city you can purchase a lot of his negativity that we can all do that's probably one of my favorites and that if you continue on Down the Line would kind of take a survey of the participant that white and has been the most common one the long car rides you definitely got to see what the pet peeves of other members were together and be able to go through not only the fun activity but learning together. course has their power standards up there so parents say how do I know what they're teaching we have them up here in every class pork the classes are coming I'm not going to stay there in the bus form and they're cleaned up but we pushed real fast and hard to do try to get them out so parents are wondering this is the place they should go underneath their building so thank you to Tyler and Kathy's not here but those are up there we're going to work on combining our Elementary web page has some of those things we've paid to have a major web overhaul but haven't gotten the position yet to sit and everything I do also want to talk about the schools that are on extended Target what that means is they were on a Target list before code They carried it over and then we just didn't see the girl is your soul with an extended Target kind of a you do an area where we want to move forward I am confident Monroe Elementary rules different next year you can see the areas or low socioeconomic doing something to disability trees that are not on the list and I know has been doing some really great for us to dig in there in a few like for example where there is commendable so something is still wrong like this is extended Target the students abilities to what needs to be better what are they eating then or is it just me so this will fit have that they might be tired yes so this is an area of his great game when we talked about improving in one of our staff Larry is whether we like it or not every single school district is evaluated on the so this year in April you take the test in spring right when facility usage in uniform and we're okay with administering them but we want you guys to be aware of them are Community use District building policy the 900 and then our open night that's the one that governs Wednesday activities coffee the community use of build does not state that facilities cannot be you Wednesdays after 6 it only States people in Canada so we might need to know there are people that outside groups using our facilities on Wednesday so that's something that that the board wants to change you need to change the policy that's the only time they can get in the gym and so they're here on Wednesday nights its Parent's Choice we have nothing to do with it they use they go through the computer to use but I didn't want to have this week and I talked about it I didn't want some Steve why are people in the building at Wednesday night and I'm like well because our policy allows them to use the buildings are Wednesday night activities governs sponsor what's a good sports what is the same Sunday we have a time frame hours Sunday Scott hours in the community news Wednesday the 505 08 is all about overnight what is the weather on Sunday night so just so you Canon cameras and so we know that this is something that will be covered with that soon as we get the nod for the money from the governor and so in order to be able to order right away or bringing this forward to you plus we want to get the cameras you can see Tyler was just telling me the device cost of what's on sale the installation is not we will be using some of that safety initiative money $50,000 building the upgraded cams that was one area when they did arthritis our threat assessment they did that they went through a vulnerability and I will talk of Monroe you can see our Elementary cameras we did the bare minimum basically a couple of entrances in the building at the high school you can see we've done a better job with our city was continually monitor those cameras right now they would have to login into the program see the camera log into your phone and what's happening now is we're using them or if we had them on the screen sitting in the front office just be running all day so that's what the viewing stations are and I can be quite honest with you with or without you so we're asking for approval and again I put up above it if you using that 50000 money for building for sure we would like to purchase the cameras is our plan to spend the whole $50,000 and they're saying I have not seen any carryover so let's just pretend the high school doesn't have and we use 30,000 because they really are they're really I don't some people think they're in Detroit I don't know the backside of it but also at Prairie City the fire alarm and the alarm system on our docket for a long time. We get a good deal so between those two big projects again we haven't seen a report back and you guys can come back there are some doors that are don't match well that we may need to do so hearing someone splattering over of that would be a big one that's not including New Mexico it's imperative that to get the the good pricing on the cameras we need to go pricing I haven't heard back from the state about her for an apartment want to be delayed in it they don't have to go away so we take a look at remember we had a question about we're meeting in whatever whatever we do is we can go in the washer something happens after 30 days that we can't go back and see if they really is a phenomenal system so it's a great system but we're also need to have viewing station ocean as a security camera rotate is better for the district if we can stay on it the bonus of this is if you look at the pricing once again Tyler is getting a deal on these things so it's a savings of $117 Chromebook which is just you know under $30,000 savings if we move forward with these now so we have to replace it it's just an order is going to be a cost savings for us these last four years they give you anything in very interesting I mean Shane and I are at risk coordinator for the elementary building and I'm here tonight to talk about starting a food pantry at Monroe Elementary I have Ty Harris here with us he is our representative from the Food Bank of Iowa so he's here I thought I'd give you a little history about what we've got going on so far last year Mrs meetings Ashley brought this idea of the backpack buddy program to our school and something that other school districts have done where she was previously but this is something to do with the food pantry here in Monroe and it's just like kind of like what it sounds like they have grocery bags and bring to our schools and then I go home and family every Friday so last year we were able to serve 12 families we are kind of excited we have more for Monroe and just a couple of Grand Prairie City it is about 28 students across the district because even though all high school students if they had siblings that were older to bring food home sweet home with elementary kids so so now we've actually like triple we've have 36 being ways in their split pretty evenly between a city and now it's 77 students across a really awesome are you able to do that and I added on there but I also over the summer 7 p.m. Ali's I delivered to their houses they were not wanting to really go to the church and pick up food so delivering to them and it was it was really awesome to see those kind of nice for me too I could go to the church and see what the process was there everything was downstairs and I'm just thinking all these ladies that I want you to do this they have to go downstairs at Presbyterian church and bring all these bags up and now that we have 77 I'm thinking well it's a lot for them to do so that we start a food pantry at Monroe Elementary cuz you have space there for one it would be in our area they are not there all the time so we can move we can easily move them to another room if we have to image of access just either with families and also the food truck that we need to come to like the back door where those dumpsters are they would be easily just be able to put the food right into that room and we still want the volunteers that work the food pantry in Monroe to be able to come and do this because they're just they're really passionate about it they're very tasty Peter just yeah there is awesome I come and do this for us a little bit we thought we talked about kind of the difference between the food pantry in the food bank of Iowa and right now Gary Munson is the one that orders all that for the food pantry near Monroe and so that if it was to take place in the Roman Tree I'd be the one ordering the food that was switched a little bit to get that started but and also kind of with the food pantry in the food bank there's only certain food you can get from the food bank the food pantry has been gracious enough to take donations from it everywhere around the community and they kind of been selling in the bags all the fun stuff like the Fruit Roll-Ups and the granola bars and all other kinds of things are even cute they put a little joke in it every Friday for the family but that I want that to happen we would just have to take donations we can't had a fun stuff from the some things we would need for the room is shelving a refrigerator and freezer because we could even start providing meat and milk and eggs and that kind of stuff at school we would need help with that but the food bank says reimburse us a $2,000 a great reason why we would love to have it at schools that families could just come and ask us anytime I feel like they'd be more comfortable with getting it will rather than going to the church I don't know I just think they're right there anyway they're picking up their kids are comfortable with us giving them the food and I just think they would use it more and also we learned this too that we can send home like Alyssa kids that we could provide and they can check off what they want and we can fill the bag and then send it home we still wanted to do it on Friday with the same volunteers we still want to run food drives and contrast right now we're doing a food drive I do middle schools doing one for November and December we do what door decorating contest and kids bring coins and whatever they vote on two front doors and all that money last year we were able to raise $1,000 just on the Sill that was cool and this is of no cost to the district so your place or are we just doing this because of the bags that you it's mainly because of the bags because it's it's becoming such a big undertaking now and so the church was still do a food pantry and then we would just have an extra cell stay open and then we would just be in addition to that I guess my question was I just love to have one at Payson Elementary there's not room right now so what is it because they don't want to children kindergarten families I said it probably wouldn't have four backpack buddy program needs to run to school an outside Source that's why I started and they just new toilet do this somewhere like we can send save you have a big room while I go over to get their hours in back up for sale for seniors turn on her side against the wire run over there but sometimes I do know that sometimes we always remain so be open when you think about what has a day at least once a week after school you might just started even just like sending home a checklist and backup you know the kids that we have what we choose those kids through free and reduced but we can go outside that list but we've had so many this year that we're just sticking to that group right now and even more you could do a fridge and freezer you can make anything I would like to move a problem question well that's a good question we talked about perhaps just putting helping out with going to donate on the other hand and it has to be sometimes she will have them over the fine. There's a couple of used appliance stores in Des Moines oh yeah so that that's you something when it comes time and we haven't even the space and that all of that that will look and see where we can changes that are pretty much certainty that's a lot of food so that's where we're seeing if you that come up but you also can see that it went down for level two but again that special a deficit of some that I have my eye on to see where can we make changes but in reality is sometimes it's very very difficult we may have to provide services last thing I have is IFC conference and Leslie and Rod
