Messi wages has gone and it was a good bonding experience for all of us to kind of get closer before we were The Weeknd on Tuesday the first opportunity once the museum and basically they had a whole bunch of facts about different sports in the NCAA and had a whole upstairs area with like interactive areas of the basketball players are like this football game I'm Elsa went to kelsay farms at day and we got there they had this whole teaching segments of what they did Farm had a whole Dairy operation for the market went down a couple years ago that's why I had this corn maze and other things like a corn pad and a little hay bail Apache sprayers as we went into the production line of them so we walk through step-by-step would like what they did to put them together from the beginning stages all the way the final product Wednesday we went to the FBI shopping mall here is Meredith where should I stay parallel and then her would that be so that's just a bunch of vendors that come in basically measure at the same people and then we went to the first General Session with the keynote speaker one and Anya and how old is Lucas Oil Stadium and yeah I was really I want to see all the people that attend the national conventions alumni alumni sponsored us are Texas Roadhouse so and then on Thursday we kind of they have a career in college there so there's a bunch of interactive things you can do and then we got a bunch of free stuff and yeah that's really cool you can talk to you about your College's it were all around the US and then a bunch of careers that anyone I know about I called the National Convention had a pin collecting things that you could do a bunch of things like at the career fair so we were all required to attend I think so they all married from my leadership workshops to Entre nous Workshop cell activities and it's kind of like learning about the works but you went to in like career you can go into the agriculture industry and different stuff like that and then you also got to bond with other people from the different states I want to talk golf at night watch Caitlin Smith sing she was part of our tractor last year she want Iowa just a contest for the talent show she got to go to Nationals and singing performance people so true bowler he was a member of our chapter and he got to do a whole science project and displayed up there at the Alexander trip with IHOP last year we went to this exact time in Illinois my favorite memory is probably getting the bond with our entire with our chapter with all 2 cuz I got to go and meet up with my from different classes in Iowa my favorite memory was probably part of the style Squad so I get sent from Coldspring that I got to meet up with a bunch of people from all over the nation and that are also part of that so that was really fun I think my memory is in the carpet built-up anger on each other does Zachary each other are just really really good basketball my favorite part was probably going to tour our see. I got to see some of the bucks at family friends used to bring their guns and sky learn more about it a little fun we had in her oh and just having fun wherever you went I don't want to last with everyone on the trip and I feel like I get to know all of them so much better now that we had. is that a date thank you okay well we're going to work based learning handbook presentation I have been working on putting together a handbook for I just needed to have Shore up a little bit so I got her a couple times tonight all kind of biased based on the same thing so we are trying to expand our workplace learning program so what we have at the high school right now is kind of like a school to Career program where are the Juniors and seniors and leave 223. The day and they get matched with an employer based around an area of interest but they have for their future careers and once I get place then they sign out and they go work and Mr Warrick is the one that can oversee his that he's the teacher in charge he has them journaling and they have assignments but after my trip to Arizona and with Dr havenstrite and seen some of these fools I felt like it was important that we adopted handbook for this program I'm just too kind of cover our bases and Shore up our expectations so what you have I'm in front of you is basically 10 pages about this program so a lot of it is forms that we expect our students to fill out but the structure you know the hours that are students I'll be working there requirements for portfolios what is our first students as they're out in the community and out in the Workhorse representing he p.m. know what would happen if a student decides about placement doesn't align with our future their future goals that's covered in this handbook you know any anything that we could think of and I modeled after something that I saw in Arizona we have lots lots and lots of compliance documents in here stuff for parents to pull out there's insurance information there's consent signed by the parents of consent signed by the employers so basically this is just so when we send our kids out out of the building you want to make sure that that they know how we expect them to represent cute but also with the expectations of the employers are are CD's earning credit for the selective credit and our goal is to get as many kids as possible this can lead to apprenticeship jobs after graduation and so mr. ward has been a really really good job this is Donovan and mr. Mike love been helping with us getting more and more kids place question do you have some businesses you can be partnered with or is it all they have this is a good chance for me to plug I have sent out and I put in my last newsletter out to the community as a forum for people to fill out you know how can I get involved as a business owner or somebody that parks in a business experience might benefit learning from you know and they can fill out if they don't have to necessarily host the student for a job placement but maybe they would no sooner for a job shadow today or they would come speak in our classroom so anybody that's listening that's a business owner I did send out a form in the send it out again I would love to have people feel this warm out because we need to get more community members involved with getting our kids music. I thought they were supposed to be having any more. early right now I don't like the place to go to the truck and stuff like it might depend on where they needed that day sometimes other wise find Scotty's Overton rise why wouldn't I schedule so about so we don't I want somebody if they don't have a car I can't drive himself lose out on that so that's something that were considering snowboard Action Army want to bring It Forward you talk a lot and about improving our career when we went to Arizona so many I can't even buy you some bring back right away and thank you launch industry Career Academy presentation all right I have some other people helping me all right so we're going to talk a little bit about our just your career and academic plan buddy cap is it's a living document you have a copy it's like 50 pages so little bit of Light reading but it is a required documents that we have to do every year and update every year and improve our College and Career readiness a really really good way for us to map out how we can support our kids in this area and it helps us on here I have that it helps us focus on what support we can give for a student in College and Career Readiness I do I do want to add it as required by the state so there's two different things at play here there's an eye hapless as an individual plan in the decaf which is the district plan are done for students that are in grades a truce while you work on that was in the classroom and this is McClellan and 8th grade skills. What are their interest the decapus what is Ford Focus what are we doing as a district to kind of enhance these interesting get these students as many opportunities as they can K Suave approach we have it all hands on deck when it comes to things like so it's not just me and it's not just mr. Brown we have our teachers involved not just a high school high school and we also have if you notice the first like three pages are all the stakeholders are involved parents student business owners all of the people that we we want to involve in in college okay so the way that he kept workers is broken down into sections and I didn't want to go through every section but I wanted to highlight a few so one of the factions base is work based learning I just talked about a lot about this learning for us so some of the things that we do that fall into the category of workplace learning this year we have our having the opportunity to come up to the high school for a quarter or a different explored Quarries in stem construction or industrial Tack and can you see the job or the work they want to see them after they reflect on it so it's very intentional and there's a purpose for kids and think about what they want to do how do we get our kids to reflect on the opportunities at the College and Career Fair that's coming up in February I believe we have thunder that show up as Santa where can we do open it up to our 8th graders to come up so that's really really exciting October I'm going to buy for kids best over-the-counter Union facility has various different options Bergen Union trailer sheet metal obviously you had the bricklayers back the run to set up a little bit on the electric wire on the plumbers they were able to go solo or solder on my pipe and then they accidentally type of water through it easy and do the job that I shot my birthday not just like sit and talk to them let me know if there was a part of that as well but I think it got to drive through machines to the VR stuff so I think I was great being formed how do I go go into how do I go reach out to these people. Coffee now that we have that gives me some really good experience all real world experience Colton ocean-to-ocean a middle-class we tear up the OSHA 10 card I said yes you are certified on Brody's and yard work to do on this all works. he dies by Lester DMACC that they do get a certification for that as well we've talked about the career finder a lot of colleges and Military that says yes tonight coordinate with a military brat when I come into the school and talk to her and hoping to do as well I'm essential component number three correctly exploration again College and Career Fair graduation we have three different kind of college classes to take in high school and then we have Online Academy Career Academy is where they can go and they have different programs there in criminal justice welding Building Trades increasing every year were increasing the number of teachers on the number of classes that we offer in house that are considered in carnival with me they are teachers teaching allow them to earn do not credit new restaurant in the mission for the first year. Central component number for post-secondary exploration again allowing our students to take classes through DMACC and then there's a post-secondary planning but that Mr Michael. Essential component number five career and post-secondary decision their College and Career readiness lessons in 8th grade things that Mr Michael dies then create a four-year plan and infinite campus with mr. Michael with college and Military visits the other day and one of the military business suit the kids really really like seeing one of our former students a lot listed in each component another category is basa advisement believe it or not they want to see if I said advisement starting as early as in a garden putting it in in their heads you know about about student loans and student aid file for the faspa I am always available to parents and send out emails and disturbance to help fill out the password and financial Network or my celebration so far this year I got the biggest turn-on that we pass and then both of them all what do junior senior meeting for they said. Everything will Junior and senior and talk to them about their plans and then going to okay so another thing that we do is d-cap is where it's kind of its kind of this whole thing out and then we think okay where's our gas so what we've come up with that are areas of improvement would like to increase our staff opportunities for 8 and more cooler Terry's for a middle school going to talk about that a little bit for us to deal with offer weren't worried that really alignment candies career interest for potential career interest we got something good going this year we're taking a quarter of the 8th graders up at the high school every first everyday Monday through Friday and then get Caesar takes them a dad or a industrial taxes like to make that a little bit more robust and get some more interest bill for exploration and I don't know what they want to get you high school we want to work on our district counseling plan which is were working on that right now okay through 12 not just how can we improve mental health improve our College and Career our little all the way up to our kids that are ready to walk out the door and then just more collaboration with her outside stakeholders that we would like to do it about collaborating with them those businesses that kind of growth address question the fair housing for a left at the. At the at the high school on they come in just a day is kind of funny like every don't really know what to do but they figure it out and then they go to their backs to the Middle School you don't and it's a good way to transition them as well to start for that transition a little bit earlier directions to Dallas counseling all right away Hospital he didn't post the pictures of the kids delivering the baby are all the way up there question I will submit this plan into the daycare pretty quick and they review it and I got it to let him know that we ought to it and change it every year next virtual learning day schedule an appointment hours we're on our way before the passage of that law Middle School District crown and consider doing this at PPM when you start cutting setup good afternoon early afternoon actually that will really interfere with high school learning activities will be a lot of people coming in the afternoon and so they'll be a lot of like it's a lot of people coming so we need to figure out what to do with the high school during that time so that was one reason that had to clean into her house we have a virtual learning day for high school and then you start to talk about what is learning that primarily my concern is that it's not a day off is truly a virtual day learning school that are doing it and we haven't you're right I've never experienced that you're at 2 p.m. so I don't know what you did in order to cope with time and I wasn't here when we set up an administrative Team B Elementary really did not do something to eat do you want to listen to 7 teachers will be responsible for their tenant not login and all they are expected to be online and working teachers are expected to be online and working with their kids or seems to have no internet access they will be open for that you're running buses they are able to get we are going to look at this very carefully to determine the success of the day to see as we look at our calendar Huda forward you want to do virtual days high schooler so are they putting your nose is a superintendent going to look at our middle school and learning with a crime in are the objectives for the day about it during covid time I heard a number of things for different schools across the state and across the country. we've had high integrity with people wanting in and get a great job and tell me the day of learning for us according to the state department so it has to have that kind of Integrity so we give it a try where what are Robson J considered listen to release kid talk about how the kids in a different area you know our biggest deal is when both of her coming in at the high school Deer Park it's a piece and we need to keep up but we need to keep trying and we feel like this would be if you would a good time a good see how it will be see what it might be is it I'm just getting flashbacks I thought it was determined pretty much. Ryland, did I know he's struggling to try to figure out if you can can you let us know not work though if you're here in about 40 weeks in open things but it is something we're going to have to really begin to explore I figure out how it might work here and is it a better tactical dog really hard to get that type of education on loan so and the different grades I get to Middle Schools do good Elementary are they important to send them some how how are they making them other than saying hey there's a big what about afterwards near me who are not coming back. We all we have that every year every year Life Changes in their family and they know ahead of time they're not coming back as an incentive to have that design early so that we can fill the position as early as possible we offered a stipend we don't have that you're gone and so but he's talking to the administration does tremendously to get ahead the hiring, I am not anticipating that we will need to do this to do a lot of hiring this year but as opposed to having someone who knows they're not coming back way to April Miller resignation this did help but again there is a leprechaun so I do want allows our high school kid be able to help and to participate and help around the tournament I put in here a lot of new kids look up to her high school students and so I think it's very important I also want to know what arm at Club live watch or School District nation and we are seeking approval to host their annual youth wrestling tournament on Sunday January 28th 2024 rope around here what School roofing project Park I think you if you're not familiar with the project of the middle school rira is we've got it we we structure that says that we have a base bid and an alternate bid the base bid was essentially be the southern portion of the building last of the higher roof meaning the gymnasium roof in the far south that was the base bid and then the alternate bid was the auditorium and all of the classroom space to the north and east of that we had some very good interest in the project a lot Bittersweet 7 B all together that has a little bit of rain is there but we have some very good beds all of them were under the estimated amount that we had put in the project I sent off a recommendation letter to Michelle and Russia Today and explaining what the position would be for us we had one low bed from Central State Roofing apparently do better however under bid form they also did indicate that they want to start immediately December 18th and work all the way through till up to you August 1st when I get her to them they stated that today because of the good weather that they've been having they put work ahead or kept a lot of their winter work is complete and so they're just trying to keep their employees busy throughout the winter I'm talking with the school obviously during the school day that that is not conducive to the environment so I also been interviewed the next low B Wright Roofing also extremely below budget and they had some very good reviews they've complied with all the requirements of the project to so their base bid was 177000 $47 there alternate bid was $23,606 they got a commencement date of June of 24 which is in line with what school like to do and they had a completion date first of 2024 which is also what we would prefer to have so with that my recommendation was that because of the timeline State Roofing that we rejected that bid and that we accept the bid of Wright Roofing the board May accept the base bid they may accept both the base and the elf in the bed or they forgo that reject all beds great questions what's the purpose of the alternate bid because of the funding that was available and what our estimates were we felt that we could it's another portion of the Middle School roof into this and the basement in the alternate still all both underneath that so the purpose of the elephant that was it in the event that was not as low as it was if it was an amount that would only fit the budget at the time we would just take the face good so the alternate was something that would give us a hard number to I've been here we haven't had it is an annual decision what's important for people to know and understand is that early retirement is a financial cool and something sometimes experience it in Rome and so just refused that sparingly when they need to make some adjustments for that they can absorb the cost or reduction in Revenue, declining enrollment attrition rather than reduction so this year 32 students we along with other Public Schools I'm aware of do Ted talk when we get there also additional money that we get that's based on our enrollment that will be down our children leadership our address money and so we are in a really good financial position now I'm advising. consider early retirement so hopefully get a few people to consider that so that we could absorb some positions through attrition so we don't get in a position to have to make reduction and that I think that would be good and I was to build up there for the board of potential cost savings and some coffee beans and I'll go off of the assumption that we would replace but I can tell you that we're friends of yellow metre we are a likely going to have to reply so you may we may have a board experience the full thing of their salary and benefits if you choose to offer early retirement incentives I also want a new board member your early retirement centers are paid on your managers or management over $638,000 we actually reduce the amount of money that we were putting in the management but last year when we did our set our tax navigate an early retirement incentive I couldn't hear currently we have seven former employees receive the total benefit of $28,000 next year we'll have three former employees that will receive their benefits $12,000 if we were to have all of them take another picture with your hundred and $25,000 out of the money management fun but I can tell you that I know for a fact he was not house all by all elves look like but I would like to board to consider this year offering an early retirement incentive to help us that are declining revenues. on the board fully intending the booster club has committed to pay $20,000 into $20,000 or the board he had been for two boards and you can see them down below yes can you guys hear me okay recommendation I'm just I'm a little under the weather so as you guys probably have heard our baseball softball and especially our baseball scoreboard has been in it and be a different pieces and Ben piece together for the number of years and so earlier this fall at met with the booster club president Christy Lindsay and they've got some money that they want to give you a project could benefit as you know and girls and a wide range of Ages as well and so we came up with replacing these baseball softball scoreboards and so what you see in the attachments on Sibley there's two different scoreboard brands that I've received B B from and I guess I want to make sure I preface it with tonight the only thing I'm looking for I guess from the board I'm not really making a determination at this point of we're going to go with Fairplay over daktronics or we're going to go with daktronics over Fairplay what I'm looking for from the board is you'll see at the bottom of those scoreboards four different slots for advertisement and so when doctor havenstrite says I'm seeking a loan and I'll say from the school for $40,000 that that would be coming out of the papal and Dorsey account and then would be paying for the scoreboards in combination with the booster club's $20,000 donation and with the advertisements Lots over depending on what I would get for a price point for those advertisements last week we would look at having the school pay back for their $40,000 Loan in two-and-a-half to three years and so what I'm looking for the board is it all isn't okay or that you guys are in support of this because then what my next step is to go out and to make sure that I can secure these advertisements because if I can't secure these eight different advertisement slots for for softball for for baseball than that really changes the conversation on if we really want to do this project where we going to come up with the money so right now I want to make sure we know the boots are clubs on word for 20,000 the next step is here with the school board seeing if you guys aren't board for the $40,000 loan and then the next step would be to go out and to work with the booster club and solicit some different businesses and come is that might be interested in being a part of this scoreboard project and what we would do when I selected solicit these businesses is I would be upfront with him that word would be interested and entering at the three-year contract with them so we would be guaranteed by entering a contract that we would have at the very least our school boards paid for and so there's a lot of information and there but again I I'm not this point looking to land on one school board versus the other when that were to happen I would bring it back to the board for final approval with those different advertisement slots black planter 40000 I do if so we've got four different advertisement slots on each scoreboard so if I were to ask $2,000 a year for each that I know Jersey fries and a couple other ones are on there and I think the price point that they paid and that's just to be on on the essay just say they support us a lot so I don't want to make it seem like it's small but I think it was every bit of $1,000 that they paid to be on our website so to be up on the baseball scoreboard and to be static and not to move I'm pretty confident and then I also know that our football scoreboard that we have the scrolling ads where your ads there your ads up there for about 10 or 15 seconds and it switches to the next those people are paying about $700 per year to have their ad up there for 15-20 seconds and then rotate the next so I really think we've got quite a bit of Leverage when we go to some of these companies let you know your ads going to be up there it's never going to move it it's always going to be visible up on the scoreboard no matter what start over after that so at some point right it would turn into a money maker but that's truly not our intent with it our intent is just to get some new scoreboards but at some point it would start to generate a little bit of advertisement money you think you can get forever tires for
